Saboteur Awards Festival 2020 – the timeline!

We have all the good news this week! For anyone who hasn’t spotted it on our social media channels yet, we’re delighted to announce that our second attempt at funding was a successful one which means that the Saboteur Awards Festival 2020 will be funded by Arts Council England, and it most definitely will be coming back to Birmingham on May 16, 2020!

We’ve lost a tiny bit of time – what with all the low-key panicking and all – so we thought a handy how-it-looks from here guide might be useful.

Our first step is to open votes for the public. For anyone who is reading this kind of announcement for the first time, our voting form contains a whole host of literary-led categories and the text box is entirely open for you, i.e. you can put anything at all in, for any of the categories, to cast your vote. Please put as much information as you can when the time comes though, as it’ll make life easier when it comes to tallying the votes.

The first round of voting will open on March 16, 2020. Get the date in your diaries!

The voting for this first round will close on April 6, 2020, so we can tally your votes and draw up the names of the shortlisted artists, events and publishers for each category.

The second round of voting gives you the opportunity to pick your favourite from each shortlist, and this second round will open on April 19, 2020, to hopefully give you as much time as possible to get your votes in before the awards themselves. Voting for the second round will close on May 13, 2020, to give us time to get everything in order before the awards.

There will be further announcements along the way so make sure you’re following us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date, and check in with our website for exciting news (and reviews, always) in the coming weeks too.

On a much more personal note, we’d like to thank absolutely everyone who pledged, shared, tweeted, reached out and generally behaved in an all-round lovely way towards us during the funding-no-funding situation. It was a stressful time but it was so wonderful to see the love and support held for Sabotage Reviews by so many of you, and it buoyed our spirits along the way. So thank you, and we hope to see as many of you as possible in person at the awards this year.

Warm wishes,

Charley and the Sabotage Reviews team
