Saboteur Awards 2021: The voting timeline!

Not for the first time, I find myself writing the words, “Well, it’s been a year, hasn’t it?” It has, and it’s not over yet. So I appreciate the pockets of light and joy we’ve found, and that we continue to find, along the way through all of this. I realise the Saboteur Awards is one such pocket of light so, even though they will look different again this year – for the third year running since I joined the organisation – I’m still determined to make them happen.

The voting period this year will be slightly shorter than last year, but there will be a voting period all the same, and here’s how it will look:

Votes will open for the first round of voting at 12:00pm on March 31.

Votes will close on April 7 at 12:00pm.

The shortlists will be made available on April 21, when votes will reopen at 12:00pm. The shortlist voting form will remain open for two weeks, closing on May 5 at 12:00pm.

The winners for each category will be announced on May 15, and this will follow a week-long Saboteur Awards Festival, made up from panels, poetry performances, and more. A full programme will be released for this shortly, along with information on how to book tickets – although every event will be free, free, free!

I don’t know how the awards themselves will look yet. Tempting as it is to run a 60-person Zoom again (gulp), after 12 months and then some of Zoom calls, I think there must be another way for us to celebrate these special categories. On the topic of the categories, these will be the same as they have been for the last two years so there aren’t any changes to update there. If you need a reminder of those categories, though, and the brilliant winners from last year, you can have a quick refresh just here.

Thanks to everyone for their patience and continued support for Sabotage Reviews. You honestly make this worthwhile work.

Stay tuned for that voting form, and get ready to start sharing.

Stay safe,
Charley
